This Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending two beautiful events in DC, the First Annual Washington Life Fashion Awards at the Textile Museum and an art exhibition at the W Hotel, the latter being a tribute to Alexander McQueen. Alex Turco, a Milan-based artist with Luxe Studio, flew in for the event which combined the McQueen spring collection offerings at Hu's Wear with a curated selection of Turco's most spectacular works installed at the W downtown. As a painter myself, I was intrigued by Alex Turco's use of mixed media on canvas. There was a portrait of Marilyn Monroe that had actual hand-crafted crystal earrings coming off of the canvas, creating a unique three-dimensional experience. Alex, besides being a talented, world-renowned artist, was also unbelievably sweet. This was definitely an evening to remember!
